The Rainbow 2 (R2) is the ultimate linear LED for motion picture and content creation. From lighting actors to environments, high quality tunable white light and the highest RGB color saturation with multiple pixels maintaining super smooth, flicker free dimming, the R2 will be your workhorse. This linear LED light offers incredible data connectivity whether wired or wireless and can be powered anywhere via AC and DC power inputs. Integrated Ossium Mounting System (OMS) allows for rigging in ways previously unobtainable.

The new Rainbow 2 houses a range of options for wired data usage. With everything built internally, R2 ensures simple connectivity without the added hassles of additional hardware. DMX, sACN, Art-Net and RDM, whichever protocol you prefer or need, the RR can handle itstraight out of the box.
Wireless
Wireless connectivity supports CRMX, W-DMX, Bluetooth, and WiFi equally. However the signal gets there, Rainbow 2 will receive it.
Ethernet
Every Rainbow 2 contains built in ethernet nodes. Daisy Chaining through any R2 means more solutions and options for any type of installation or last minute add-on, and anything in between.
App
Controlling the R2 is never harder than pulling out a tablet or smartphone. R2 is compatible with Lumenair, Blackout, Lighticians, and an ever expanding list of commonly used apps.
Color Science
Advanced Research
Quasar Science’s industry leading research into the physics and control of light have yielded acolor engine that produces dramatically more accurate colors and control. Using more than onequintillion diode combinations, the Rainbow 2 produces greater than one billion unique colors.
Quality White Light
Rainbow 2 white light conforms to illumination standards used by camera sensors. From 1750K to 10,000K, Quasar Science calibrates all CCT spectrums to their TM-30 reference illuminants, producing white light with high color rendition (SSI up to 91, TM30 up to 94, CRI up to 95) to ensure the best photographic quality. CCT control provides an equal amount of color change throughout the entire Kelvin range.
+/- Green settings remain faithful to CCT while still mimicking traditional color correction gels.
Saturated Color
Discoveries in colored lighting gel spectrum research have refined the definition and calibration of saturated colors for optimal spectral rendition and for equally distributed hues across the color wheel for smooth, even palettes. Yellows and oranges benefit from the use of the 2000K diode, and magentas benefit from the use of the 2000K & 6000K diodes for optimized spectral mixes.
Hue Normalization balances the color wheel’s light output with white light output. This even exposure produces a more natural and even lighting for cinematography.
Metamer Control
Metamer control grants artists the ability to control the spectrum of a chosen color. Cameras can now record consistent lighting across multiple light sources on set. By replicating the spectral fingerprint of most LED light sources, metamer control allows for true color duplication, not just the appearance of duplication to the eye.
Metamer control allows you to animate color rendition changes in-camera, opening a whole newarena in creative expression.
The on-board manual screen provides live visual feedback of the active spectral fingerprint.
The metamer control will first debut as an xy DMX control profile channel, and will later be added to the manual controls.
Ossium Mounting System (OMS)
Quasar Science teamed up with G-Force Grips and their 35+ years of rigging and gripping expertise to create the most advanced, user-friendly mounting and rigging system specifically designed for linear lights. No longer will you need ad hoc rigs to set your linear or tube lights. Now with the Ossium Mounting System (OMS), you can use lights with a linear form factor with grace and ease.
Rail
The foundation of the OMS starts with the Rail. Securely screwed along the length of back of the RR, the slender rail provides multiple mounting points to accomodate any specific rigging need.
Baby Pin or Slider
Whether you need a rigid mount or adjustability, the OMS performs. Screw in the Baby Pin directly to the Rail for a rigid, fixed attachment. For more flexibility, mount into the Slider, at either a 90 or 180 degree angle, for adjustments along the entire length of the Rail.
Rotator
Specially designed Rotator, which acts like a mini-grip head, can be mounted directly to the Rail or Slider for even more rigging possibilities. Combine two Rotators for swivel points on two axes.
Magnets
Screw in specially designed Magnets for quick, super low profile rigging on any ferrous metal surface. A set of two and you are good to go.
Battery Plate
The Battery Plate integrates seamlessly, mounting either on the Rail or Slider, keeping your rigt idy and tight. Swapping batteries is quick and easy, with no need to re-rig lights.
